Consultant Neurosurgeon
Mr Imran Liaquat graduated from the University of Glasgow Medical School in 2002 and undertook his basic surgical training in the West of Scotland. He then worked as a registrar for a year in London at Kings College Hospital and St Georges Hospital.
Following this, he would return to Scotland in order to complete his speciality training in neurosurgery in Scotland. Later in his career, Mr Liaquat would undertake a sub-specialist fellowship in neurosurgery at St Georges Hospital, where he gained experience in all aspects of General Neurosurgery and Neuro-oncology, including Awake Craniotomy, Fluorescence guided tumour resection and management of Low Grade Gliomas. He is currently a consultant at the Western General Hospital in Edinburgh.
Mr Liaquat deals with a wide range of spinal pathologies, such as degenerative spine, general neurosurgery and neuro-oncology. He is also involved in research in these fields, having published over 15 research paper/abstract publications and presented at national and international conferences.
Mr Liaquat has a keen interest in the education and training of undergraduate and postgraduate students and has completed a Masters in Surgical Education, in an attempt to help him improve his educational skills. He is an Honorary Senior Clinical Lecturer and Clinical Tutor at the University of Edinburgh and has recently been accredited as a Member of the Academy of Medical Educators.
Mr Liaquat will be available for consultation at our clinic in Hamilton, South Lanarkshire and Bothwell, North Lanarkshire.
